The word originally defines a phenomenon entirely<br \/>\ncreated by experimental conditions, an unwanted effect, a parasite.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Random effects resulting from the material used should be allowed to<br \/>\ndevelop and appear&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nJean Dubuffet<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the\u00a0Artefact\u00a0series is to highlight those &#8216;material accidents&#8217; in 3D computer graphics, and by doing so, to showcase the way in which the artist takes a &#8216;trial and error&#8217; approach.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7 successive 3D scans of the same person = 7 different images.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Computer graphics are generally\u00a0<strong>considered cold and implacably stiff<\/strong>.\u00a0Objectives.<br \/>\nThis is obviously false:<strong>\u00a0chance and randomness<\/strong>\u00a0have their place here just as much as in other art forms.<br \/>\n3D scanners and the results that they produce are the perfect illustration of this.
